Meet Our People | Valerie Kulik
Every month, we will be featuring one of our employees to give you a better look at the people powering Special Counsel and D4. This month, we are focusing on Valerie Kulik, Enterprise Engagement Manager at D4.
1. How did you get into eDiscovery?
Kulik: I went to college and received my Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies. Once I graduated, I got a job as a litigation paralegal in Washington, D.C. and stayed there for 8 years. When I moved back to my hometown of Rochester, I briefly worked as a construction litigation paralegal at a law firm which happened to be a client of D4’s. It was there that I relied on D4 to assist me and teach me about Summation load files. After attending a client event at D4’s offices, I knew I had to work here, so I had a conversation with them and the rest is history.
2. What is your favorite part about your job at Special Counsel/D4?
Kulik: I am never bored! I also enjoy having the ability to meet with my clients face-to-face and showing the value in our managed services contracts.
3. What is one workflow/tip that you think every client should know about?
Kulik: Each client should have a competent internal resource when dealing with litigation support. Having a project manager or managers handling the eDiscovery process can not only positively affect the experience and relationship with eDiscovery vendors, but also make things run smoother for the firm or corporation.
4. What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Kulik: My large Italian family, my cat, Teavanna, coffee, chocolate, and music. I suppose that’s more than one thing…
