Meet Our People | Heather Bigger

Every month, we will be featuring one of our employees to give you a better look at the people powering D4. This month, we are focusing on Heather Bigger, Vice President of Human Resources.

1. How did you get into eDiscovery?

Bigger: Honestly by chance, but it made complete sense to me when it came together. I relocated from CT to NY due to a promotion opportunity for my husband. After conducting my job search in some different industries and areas, the job in Human Resources at D4 was shared with me. First, the role was a perfect fit at the time when my kids were younger and I was trying to juggle a ton. Second, the industry I would be working in brought together the legal, technology, and data security/compliance components I had been exposed to in prior roles and companies I had worked for. Plus, I have to be honest in that I thought to myself at the time and knowing very little about the company, “how cool would it be to be a fly on the wall of a company like D4!”.

2. What is your favorite part about your job at Special Counsel/D4?

Bigger: There has never been a day at D4, and now Special Counsel, when I have not been challenged, and I certainly do not know what the word “bored” means. I love that. There has also never been a day when either someone’s expertise didn’t impress me or someone’s actions haven’t inspired me. I work with and support a group of colleagues who drive me to be the best I can be, so at times I can help them be the best that they can be, and ultimately the organization can be the best that we can be!

3. What is one workflow/tip that you think every client should know about?

Bigger: This isn’t a tip or workflow per say. But, if I can share my view from my seat in Human Resources, I’d like to share that D4 has just gotten started. We have so much more to offer as we move forward in our next chapter as part of Special Counsel and as we bring the expertise of our people together to share with our clients. Our people are invaluable.

4. What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Bigger: My husband Todd and my kids Gabby and Owen. They are my reality check, my support, and my #1 fans. When I have a tough day, they give it to me straight, and then they make me laugh. I wouldn’t want to experience life any other way!
